Tiggy

My darling Tiggy came into my life on my 18th birthday - I missed having a cat, as I had around 13! when I grew up, in Denmark. Tiggy was my first cat in the UK, and he was a (much wanted) surprise present for my birthday - I thought I was getting a hamster!! When I opened the door to my mum-in-laws where Tiggy was kept, he (Tiggy) sat on the floor in the hall, teeny weeny he was - I burst into tears, with happiness and also 'how am I going to look after this little wee one' - a worry, that soon disappeared.

Tiggy was the best companion you could wish for, and very clever. He would knock on the door at the flat we lived in at the time, to be let in, as there was no cat flap. He would come and sit on your lap when I was home alone, or feeling a bit down, and he loved to sit on his mummy's shoulder, and dance around the room. I used to sing to him, and he seemed to like that. His diet was probably better than ours, his favourite being fresh prawns and ham and chicken. When the neighbours had bbq's he would sit and wait for tit-bits - he certainly was not silly, my darling Tiggy.

Tiggy lived to a grand old age - I realised that I actually had him for more than 50% of my own life - he suffered a stroke and I knew it was the end, and I took him to the vet, to give him peace. The most difficult thing I ever have had to do... He is now resting in my garden, we got him a beautiful plant and this flowers beautifully each spring and throughout the summer and reminds us of him. He is never far from our thoughts and I hope that when the time comes, I will see and hold him and dance with him and sing to him, once again.

We have since acquired two new kittens, two brothers, from the RSPCA - I believe one of them may be psychic as every evening, he goes to the corner that Tiggy favoured, and sits there staring at the wall, scratching the wall and makes 'strange' noises - we call them mobile noises, as they kind of sound like a mobile phone!!

I WOULD LIKE TO THANK EVERYONE WHO HAS LIT CANDLES AND LEFT KIND MESSAGES FOR TIGGY - IT MEANS SUCH A LOT - THEY ARE NOT 'JUST' PETS, THEY ARE OUR CHILDREN, AND I SEND LOVE AND THOUGHTS TO EVERYONE, WHO HAS LOST A LOVED COMPANION/PET.
